It’s always a good idea to serve some sweet options to balance out all of the salt that’s usually served on game day. This chocolate brownie football cheese ball will do just that!
I’m pretty excited. The big game is almost here and I’m definitely looking forward to it, except for the fact that my team didn’t even make it to the playoffs (Ravens, you let me down guys). Either way, I’m a sports girl. I’ll be cheering on the underdog and stuffing my face full of delicious snacks, because if your team’s not playing, isn’t that the whole point?
Sure, someone usually brings the chips, the dips, the beer, and the smoked sausages, but you can become the new snack MVP by bringing something a little sweeter for the occasion…a yummy chocolate brownie football cheese ball!
It’s a really simple recipe and the fact that the cheese ball is in the shape of a football just adds to the overall effect. I shouldn’t say that it’s “cute” when I’m describing something for football, but it is pretty cute. And if anyone asks, just tell them it’s delicious. No one else needs to know you think it’s cute. 😉
One thing that takes this cheese ball to another level…? Real chunks of moist brownies! I can’t say I’d be complaining if I scooped up a bite of that. Would you?
Even if your team doesn’t bring home a win this time around, you can at least enjoy this chocolate brownie football cheese ball instead!
Here’s what you’ll need to make your own:
- 1 Package (8 oz.) Cream Cheese, Softened
- 2 Cups Powdered Sugar
- 2 Tbsp. Cocoa Powder
- 1/2 Tsp. Vanilla Extract
- 1/2 Cup Chopped Up Brownies
- 2 Cups Mini Chocolate Chips
- Handful of White Chocolate Chips
- Plastic Wrap
Once your cream cheese is softened (I let mine sit out at room temperature for a bit), add it to a medium bowl and add in the cocoa powder. Mix well.
Slowly add your powdered sugar and continue stirring until the mixture becomes smooth and creamy.
Add in the vanilla and the brownie bits and mix well.
Lay out a piece of plastic wrap on your counter that is large enough to cover and wrap your cheese mixture.
Scoop out your mixture with a spoon and place it in the center of your plastic wrap. Shape it into a ball and cover with the plastic wrap. Refrigerate it overnight.
Remover from the fridge and un wrap your cheese ball. It will still be sticky. Place in the center of your serving plate or tray and form it into a football shape.
Once shaped, press your mini chocolate chips into the sides and top of your cheese ball to cover it completely.
Using your white chocolate chips, create the “laces” on the top of your football.
Serve with pretzels, vanilla cookies, and graham crackers.
But, the best part…? Getting those chunks of those real brownie pieces when dipping into the cheese ball….yum!
On game day, I think it’s always a good idea to have some sweet options to help and balance out all of the salty snacks that are usually served, and this little chocolate brownie football cheese ball will do just that. It’s definitely sweet (and delish!)
