I couldn’t be more thrilled that Summer is around the corner. I feel like Winter is holding on for dear life over here in Utah, despite it being JUNE, and I’m trying to be as patient as possible. But I can’t help getting caught up in all of the Summer planning. Barbecues, pool parties, picnics, and sports! I’m a HUGE sports girl and try to incorporate attending live games anywhere I can. Soccer is one of those fun summer sports that you can really get into. The crowd is a blast, the atmosphere at the games is electric, the food is amazing, and…BEER! Am I right?! Today’s post is all about incorporating all of those things into a delicious recipe for beer burgers with melted beer cheese.
For this recipe, I’m using Modelo Especial beer. It has a light hop character with a crisp, clean finish. It also has a hint of herb, which makes it the perfect companion for these delicious beer burgers with melted beer cheese! If you prefer a richer flavor you can use Modelo Negra beer instead. Modelo Negra is a medium bodied lager with a richer flavor and slow roasted caramel malts. Modelo is brewed with a fighting spirit, and whichever one you choose, will lend the perfect flavor components to this easy burger recipe! Modelo also happens to be the official beer of the Beautiful Game!
But, for now, let’s get on with this delicious burger recipe, shall we?
Here’s what you’ll need to make your own:
Beer Burgers –
- 1 lb. Ground Beef
- 1/4 Cup Modelo Beer (Either Modelo Especial or Modelo Negra)
- 2 Tbsp. Worcestershire Sauce
- 1/8 Cup Breadcrumbs
- 1 Tsp. Pepper
- 1 Tsp. Onion Salt
- 1 Tsp. Salt
- 2 Tsp. Minced Garlic (2 Cloves)
Beer Cheese Sauce –
- 1/2 Stick Butter
- 2 Tbsp. Flour
- 8 oz. Modelo Beer (Either Modelo Especial or Modelo Negra)
- 3 oz. Cream Cheese
- 8 oz. Shredded Cheese (Your Favorite Type)
- Dash of Hot Sauce
To make the burgers, combine the ground beef, beer, Worcestershire sauce, pepper, onion salt, salt, and minced garlic together, in a large bowl. Mix until just combined.
Shape the meat mixture into four hamburger patties.
Preheat your grill. You’ll want to cook the burgers over medium-high heat.
Grill for 4-5 minutes on the first side, and then flip cooking for an additional 3-4 minutes on the second side. Remove from the heat and allow to set for 1 minute.
To make the beer cheese sauce, add you butter to a medium saucepan and melt over medium heat.
Add flour to the melted butter and stir. Cook for about 5-10 minutes until it begins to brown slightly.
Slowly add the beer, stirring continually until the mixture thickens a bit.
Next, add the cream cheese and allow it to melt completely. Slowly add in the shredded cheese, stirring and allowing it to melt completely.
Remove from the heat.
Place your beer burger onto your favorite bun. Pour some of the melted beer cheese sauce onto the patty and then top with your favorite burger fixings!
These beer burgers with melted beer cheese are the perfect combination of delicious barbecue goodness combined with beer! Does it get any better?
