I’m a huge fan of semi-homemade meals. I can remember watching Sandra Lee on the Food Network when I was younger and I still love the idea of using some store bought items and some homemade ones, to get dinner on the table quickly. With the holiday season coming up and busy schedules on the rise, getting a meal on the table that doesn’t involve going through the drive thru first, is a challenge in and of itself. Plus, when the weather gets colder outside, I crave easy, warm dinners that don’t require a lot of effort on my part. Today, I’m sharing an easy meal idea, that’s perfect for the family and also includes a recipe for easy focaccia bread sticks too!
I’m a sucker for good Italian food. Nothing beats a delish baked ziti or a cheesy lasagna, but I definitely don’t want to spend hours in the kitchen prepping that for dinner after working all day long. Recently I’ve been adding the new Michael Angelo’s frozen meals to my grocery cart and I’ve been loving them!
They are premium, slowly crafted authentic Italian meals that are inspired by Italian traditions. Plus, they don’t contain artificial colors, flavors, or sweeteners and use simple wholesome ingredients that you can actually pronounce and find in your own kitchens. They make everything from single serve to family sizes, calzones and even meal starters too!
I picked up the Michael Angelo’s Family Size Lasagna with Meat Sauce at my local Walmart store. You can find the one I served, and many other flavors, available in the freezer section.

Here’s what you’ll need to make your own:
- 1/2 Cup Oil Packed Dried Tomatoes
- 1/2 Cup Grated Romano Cheese
- 3/4 Tsp. Dried Rosemary
- 1/4 Tsp. Cracked Black Pepper
- 2 Packages Refrigerated Pizza Dough
Preheat your oven to 350 degrees.
Drain the diced tomatoes, but save 4 teaspoons of the oil that they were packed in and set aside.
Finely snip the tomatoes, using kitchen shears.
In a small mixing bowl, combine the tomatoes with the cheese, rosemary, pepper, 4 teaspoons of water, and the oil that you set aside earlier. Mix well and set aside.
Open the two packages of refrigerated pizza dough. Unroll the dough on a lightly floured surface and roll each of them out to be a 10×8 inch rectangle.
Spread the tomato mixture over the bottom half of each pizza dough rectangle.
Fold each piece in half and them lengthwise, into 1/2 inch wide strips. Twist each strip 2-3 times. (Tip: Use a pizza cutter to make it easier!)
Place each strip, 1 inch apart, onto a lightly greased baking sheet.
Bake them for 12-15 minutes or until lightly browned.
Remove from the oven and transfer the bread sticks to a cooling rack to cool completely.
Tip: You can also make these easy focaccia bread sticks in advance, to make weekday meal prep even easier! Simply wrap the baked and cooled bread sticks, in a single layer, in heavy foil. Seal and freeze for up to one month. To re-heat, pop them back into a 350 degree oven for 15 minutes or until heated through.
Serve these easy focaccia bread sticks with a fresh salad and your Michael Angelo’s favorite for a complete, quick, and easy dinner!
