I’m all about a yummy citrus cocktail, especially in the middle of citrus season when citrus fruits are at their peak. And one that’s easy to make AND gorgeous? SOLD.
Luckily, this easy paloma cocktail recipe hits all the marks. It’s full of delicious grapefruit, is oh so pretty, and even has a grapefruit sugar rim…what’s not to like? When you see how simple it is to make, it might just become your new fave. (It’s definitely one of mine!)
It’s light enough to serve for any occasion, including brunch. Move over mimosas! There’s a new drink in town.
If that gorgeous ombre effect wasn’t enough to sell you, that grapefruit sugar rim should! It adds the perfect little touch to the glass, and not to mention, it’s delish. Plus, you can easily swap out the sugar for salt, if you want a little salty kick on your rim instead.
But enough talking…let’s make these babies!
Here’s what you’ll need to make your own:
Grapefruit Rimming Sugar –
- 1 Cup Sugar
- 1 Large Grapefruit
- 1 Lemon
Easy Paloma Cocktails –
- 1 Grapefruit Wedge
- 1/4 Cup Fresh Grapefruit Juice
- 1 Tbsp. Fresh Lime Juice
- 1 Tsp. Sugar
- 1/4 Cup Tequila or Mescal
- 1/4 Cup Club Soda
Grapefruit Rimming Sugar –
Preheat your oven to 150 degrees or it’s lowest setting. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and set aside.
Wash and dry the grapefruit and the lemon.
Using a zester, carefully zest the grapefruit and the lemon.
Place the zest onto the parchment lined baking sheet. You can use a fork to help spread it out.
Bake for 10-15 minutes, and check on it a few times to make sure the zest isn’t browning.
Bake until the zest it dry and crispy to the touch.
Once baked, combine with the sugar and mix well.
In an air-tight container, the grapefruit rimming sugar will last for up to 6 months, which means that you’ll have plenty around for a few batches of these easy paloma cocktails 😉
*If you’re not a big sugar person, you can easily swap out the sugar with salt, for a different taste!*
Easy Paloma Cocktails –
Pour some of the grapefruit rimming sugar on a plate.
Rub the rim of your glass with a grapefruit wedge. Dip the rim into the grapefruit sugar and coat well.
Carefully combine the grapefruit juice, lime juice, and sugar in the glass. Stir until the sugar is completely dissolved.
Stir in the tequila or mescal (whichever one you choose to use) and add ice to the glass.
Top it off with club soda. Garnish with a grapefruit wedge and sprinkle a bit more of the grapefruit sugar on top.
These easy paloma cocktails are so light and refreshing. I can definitely see getting into a bit of trouble drinking a few too many, because they are just that good! And that grapefruit sugar rim…?! SO gorg.
Now you just need to invite a few friends over for an excuse to make them! Enjoy!
