February is almost over (Yay, March, my birthday month!), but I couldn’t let it slip by without letting you guys in on my newest obsessions and the things I’ve been hooked on this month! My picks include the tweets that are getting me through my work day, the best gloss I’ve ever owned, and the newest addition to my bedroom that’s a game changer, plus a few others!
1). The hair accessory trend is back and I’m jumping on the bandwagon with zero shame! Almost all of these accessories ring in at under $15, so this trend is definitely worth trying! This gorgeous gemstone barrette is a winner. This hair tie is super subtle but oh, so chic. Who wouldn’t want a velvet hair bow? This hair tie gives me all the nautical vibes. These bows are too cute. This heart clip is under $3 and perfect for date night.
2). Silk sheets may not be your thing, but after hearing about the benefits a silk pillowcase can have on your skin and hair (and now that I’m getting older!), I figured it was worth a try. I’ve been using one for over a month now and I’m a convert. Definitely hooked. At first I thought it might not be comfortable or easy to sleep on, but I was wrong! It’s so smooth and my skin feels amazing on it too. Your pillowcase has more contact with your face than any other fabric, so you want to make sure you’re picking one that’s going to benefit your skin! Silk is much better at retaining moisture compared to cotton or other fabrics. It allows your skin to retain it’s natural moisture and stay hydrated. It also reduces the look of fine lines and wrinkles on your face! And say goodbye to that infamous bed head! The natural properties of silk reduces the friction against your hair, which helps to prevent breakage and split ends! And, as if the other benefits weren’t enough, silk is hypoallergenic and has a natural resistance to dust mites, fungus and mold, in addition to a ton of other allergens. Have I sold you on a silk pillowcase yet? If you want to ease into the silk life, I love this one because the top is made with 100% pure silk, but it has a cotton underside, which makes it super affordable (under $17!) and easy to try without spending a ton. Plus, it’s machine washable, comes in 10 different colors and all sizes, AND has a lifetime warranty!
3). When I first heard the news, I didn’t believe it. And I don’t think you will either after seeing the products, but Walmart launched a new modern home line and I’m OBSESSED. It’s called MoDRN and includes decor, lighting, storage pieces, kitchen and entertaining ware, outdoor, bed and bath, and even art. I never would have known any of the pieces came from Walmart, but at Walmart pricing, you won’t hear any complaints coming from me! You can shop the whole collection here.
4). This month, I’ve been reading this book. It’s the first book of the All Souls trilogy and I’m hooked. The story follows Diana, a young scholar and a descendant of witches. When she discovers a long-lost and enchanted manuscript, it’s reappearance opens up a fantastical underworld, which she navigates with vampire Matthew Clairmont. Demons, witches, magic, and vampires all play a role in this story. If you were a fan of Twilight, you’ll love this series. I can’t wait to read the second one!
5). I might not be a parent, but I can definitely appreciate the humor (and stress) that goes along with it. I’ve been hooked on reading these tweets for years, and I still die laughing at them every time. The Huffington Post rounds up the best parenting tweets and displays them for your weekly enjoyment. Not always work appropriate, but always hilarious and worth a read!
6). I heard A LOT of hype about these lip serums before I tried them out, and I’m SO glad I did! They definitely live up to the hype and are probably the best lip gloss I’ve ever owned. (No exaggeration!) It’s a plant-based gloss that goes on super smooth, but isn’t too glossy or sticky at all. It’s made with organic beet extract, organic pomegranate, vegan collagen and anti-oxidants that improve lip cell structure, diminish fine lines, and naturally plump and moisturize. All natural, all organic, zero toxins, and a 0 on the Think Dirty scale, which I love! I have Buff (which is the perfect nude color), Juice (a pinky-red), Ever (a subtle purple), and Deep (a darker red). I seriously bought three more after trying the first one! 😉 You can go super subtle or add more of the serum for a deeper color. I also love layering it on top of my lipstick for added moisture and shine.
Let me know if you guys try out any of my picks this month and if anything gets you hooked like me!
