Due to the lovely rainy weather in Charlotte lately, there was a slight delay in getting this month’s calendar cocktail shot and posted on the blog, but it’s finally here! (And I even shot a video too! Find it below.) These grapefruit rosemary mules are crisp, refreshing, and I love the citrus kick from the fresh grapefruit. The cocktail recipe is an easy one and I’m sharing the easy way to make your own rosemary flavored simple syrup too!
Here’s what you’ll need to make your own:
Rosemary Simple Syrup –
- 1/4 Cup Sugar
- 1/4 Cup Water
- 2-3 Sprigs of Fresh Rosemary
Grapefruit Rosemary Mules –
- 1/4 oz. Rosemary Simple Syrup (Ingredients listed above)
- 1/2 Lime, cut in quarters
- 2 Sprigs of Fresh Rosemary
- 2 oz. Fresh Grapefruit Juice
- 2 oz. Vodka
- Ginger Beer
- Ice
To make the rosemary simple syrup –
In a small saucepan, combine the sugar and water and stir well.
Bring to a boil over medium-high heat.
Stir until the sugar has dissolved completely.
Remove from the heat and add the sprigs of rosemary to the pot. Cover and allow the mixture to steep for 10-15 minutes.
Remove the rosemary and store the simple syrup in sealable container in the fridge.
Before using the simple syrup in your grapefruit rosemary mules, allow it to cool completely.
To make the grapefruit rosemary mules –
In a cocktail shaker, add the lime quarters, simple syrup, and rosemary. Muddle the ingredients to release the flavors and oils of the rosemary.
Add the grapefruit juice and the vodka to the cocktail shaker. Top with ice and stir.
Fill a copper mug with ice.
Strain the cocktail mixture in the shaker into the copper mug.
Top with ginger beer.
Garnish with a grapefruit wedge and a sprig of rosemary.
