I hope you guys are ready for this post because I really took the time to put together SO MANY mother’s day gift ideas. This will be my second official mother’s day and I really tried to pick things that are on my own wishlist or things that I really love to help cultivate the perfect gift that your moms will love too.
I’ve organized all of these mother’s day gift ideas into a few different categories, because all mom’s (and their interests) are different. So browse though the list below to find something that fits perfectly for your mom!
And let me just preface this list first by saying that these mother’s day gift ideas need to be paired with time. And by time, I mean time to enjoy these things alone. A mom never gets enough “me time” during the day and those minutes are precious. I never really understood this until I became a mom myself, but moms are always on. They’re always ready to jump in to help with any and all things. They’re touched out, they’re tired, they’re deprived of time to do the things they enjoy or used to be able to do whenever their schedules allowed. We didn’t know to appreciate all the alone time we had before, haha, at least I didn’t. And, don’t get me wrong, I don’t think any of us would take motherhood back, nor do we want to complain about it, but a little appreciation and some alone time goes a LONG way. It helps to fill up our cup, which then allows us to fill up the rest of the family cup without things spilling over. It’s a hard and selfless job!
And don’t just use mother’s day as an excuse to do these things. Try to give the moms in your life a little bit of time to themselves weekly or monthly, or whatever works for you. You don’t understand how simple of a thing it is, but means so much. It really is a big deal.
1// – For the mom who loves a little bit of self-care, take over bedtime duties and give mom some time to pamper herself with some of these favorites of mine:
This red light facial mask is on my list and something I’ve been lusting after for awhile. It’s definitely more pricey, but mom can use it everyday for a little relax time. It helps to prevent fine lines and wrinkles, gives your skin a natural glow, and rejuvenates skin. It has a 10 or 20 minute timer and has straps that allow you to use it hands free. Hint, hint Josh…
This solid body moisturizing “stone” melts right into your skin for easy application. It’s nourishing for dry skin and leaves it glowing. It contains cocoa butter, almond oil, and apricot kernel oil which are packed with antioxidants, fatty acids, and vitamins to help east irritation, lock in hydration, and improve skin texture. It’s also vegan, gluten-free, cruelty-free, and comes in recyclable packaging. Plus, you can get refills too!
I know that a long, relaxing shower is hard to come by as a mom, so let her pamper herself with a luxurious shower and this Everything Shower Kit. She’ll be able to cleanse, nourish, and pamper herself from head to toe with a dry brush, an amino-acid shampoo and conditioner, glow body polish, and afterglow body oil. If you really want to pamper her, pair the set with this cute bathrobe. (I love the Sea Stripe color!)
If you want to get her some shower essentials that are a little less pricey, I also love this trial and travel set. It includes body wash, body serum, and body lotion to give her that same pampered feeling from an amazing brand! (I also really love their neck serum!)
If your mom loves beauty gadgets, this toning device may be perfect for her. This little baby delivers powerful microcurrents to visibly sculpt and firm the face and neck, contour the look of cheeks, visibly lift brows, and smooth the look of lines. Th set also comes with a gel activator, a silk crème activator, and the clean sweep applicator brush. It’s highly rated and delivers results, which a tired mom is going to love!
I’m all about skincare and masking is something small that feels like a luxury to me. I like to double up and pair a face mask and an eye mask together at the same time to really pack a punch, and these reusable eye masks are in constant use in my routine. I love that you can pair them with any of your favorite serums and then just wash off, dry, and store to re-use again and again. Mom (and the earth) will thank you for these! (If you need some other mother’s day gift ideas to pair with these, I really love this serum and this one too.
2// – For the mom who likes to be cozy and loves a good book, take the kids out to breakfast and give mom a morning to herself to curl up and relax with some of these picks:
If mom loves to relax in the bath, this natural bath oil is a win. It feels luxurious, softens the skin, and has an aromatic blend of essential oils that help to ease stress, relax tension, sooth aching muscles, and also help tp promote restorative sleep. I also love that is doesn’t leave you feeling greasy either. It’s also vegan, Cruelty-Free, Free From Artificial Preservatives, Fragrance + Colorants, Silicone, Mineral Oil, Petrolatum, Sulphates, Parabens, Triclosan + Animal Derived Ingredients. As a bonus, pair it with this candle set to create a spa like feel at home!
I’m a big slipper girl, but these sandals would be perfect (and soooo cozy!) to wear around the house or out to run quick errands. They have a shearling lining which would also make them perfect for chilly, winter evenings! So cute!
If mom is a bookworm, these first edition book cover art prints would be a fun addition to her favorite space. I love that they a framed like a shadow-box and look amazingly crisp and real, because each book is carefully photographed to retain the original marks and wear and then remastered to highlight every detail of the cover design. Such a fun and unique gift!
While on the topic of books, I also love this personalized library stamp that mom can use to mark her own physical book collection. You can pick from a custom name or custom text, so anyone that borrows her books will know exactly where to return them.
And if mom doesn’t like storing all of those physical books, a kindle is always a good idea. I personally like the paperwhite option, because you can take it anywhere with zero glare. Perfect for the beach or pool, the couch, or in the bath! Load it with a few books on her “TBR” list for a fun surprise. (If mom doesn’t like to read, consider an audible membership instead!)
If you’ve been here for awhile, you know that I ALWAYS recommend this mug for all occasions. Not only does it keep your coffee hot for over an hour but you can also choose your perfect temperature too! Perfect for the busy mom who never seems to have time to finish her cup of coffee without it going cold first. (That’s all of us, right?) This would also be a perfect gift for a new mom! Opt for the larger size so mom can add her favorite additions to her morning cup.
3// – For the mom who likes to travel, plan a weekend away for just the two of you, or even better, gift mom a night away all by herself with these ideas:
I actually got this weekender bag for my birthday last year and I love it! It’s the absolute perfect size to pack for a long weekend. It has an easy-access opening and the bottom compartment is designed to keep shoes, toiletries and travel essentials separate (It’s also perfect for a hair dryer!). Plus there’s a zipper-pocket on the back that becomes a trolley sleeve to fit over a luggage handle. For more mother’s day gift ideas, pair it with the cosmetics case or the packing cubes as an added bonus!
I know socks may be a weird gift, but these cashmere socks are a dream and I know I’d be thrilled if I got some for mother’s day. I actually was gifted a grey pair earlier this year and I have already ordered another pair. I always find myself reaching for them when I’m looking to get cozy and comfortable. Yes, they are pricey for a pair of socks, but the quality and comfort for this cashmere pair is unmatched.
This next idea will vary based on your mom and her specific interests, but a travel inspired gift card is always a good idea because it forces her to take some time away for herself. If she loves being outdoors, a National Parks pass is a great idea. For the mom that needs a bit of a break, a hotels.com gift card is perfect for her to use to take a night away for herself. If she likes adventure, a Virgin Experience gift card may be for her! Either way, it’s a great gift for someone who usually puts everyone else first.
For a mom that’s always on the go, this watch is not only stylish, but it’s also practical. It tracks everything from monitoring your respiration, energy levels, menstrual cycle, pregnancy, hydration, all-day stress, sleep and heart rate, but I love that it also has a feature that can send your designated contacts a message with your real-time location, letting friends and family track your outdoor activities in real time for peace of mind while you’re out. And, of course, it also tracks steps, calories burned, yoga, pilates, and so much more.
When I head to the airport my goal is to always try to look put together, while also staying super comfortable. It doesn’t always work out, but this oversize two-piece set makes it a no-brainer. It’s also just great to wear around the house or when running errands on the weekends too. It’s available in 15 different colors, so be ready for mom to want another pair once she tries this one on.
4// – For the interior design loving mom, pick out something that will add
I know that I love having fresh flowers around the house, so make it super easy for mom to actually “smell the roses”, with a monthly flower subscription. I love this one because mom will never receive the same bouquet twice and they change based on seasons too. Each delivery is unique and different and it’s a nice reminder to mom every single month about how important she is.
Since mother’s day is in May, it’s the perfect time to help mom get their outdoor spaces cleaned up and decorated so she can start enjoying the outdoors and summer entertaining. I love these modern planters, that would look so pretty on a front porch or around a seating area in a backyard. They come in a small or large size and in black or white. Pick out a few flowers or shrubs and have them planted and ready to go when you gift them. (Mom doesn’t need more work to do!) These citronella candles would also pair perfectly with this outdoor gift theme!
If your mom is anything like me, she has a hard time passing up the houseplant aisle at the store without bringing home a new plant baby. Help her bring the outdoors in with this fun houseplant jungle. You can pick anywhere from 5-20 plants in their one order and can specify the variety, such as low-light, hard to kill, pet friendly, or rare finds. For more mother’s day gift ideas to pair with this one, you can also grab this chic looking moisture meter to help with her new plants or a some fun pots that match her decor!
Scalloped everything is so in right now and these rattan picture frames are absolutely stunning. They come in three different sizes and can stand or hang, either vertically or horizontally, so mom will be able to find the perfect spot for them. The thing that would take this gift to the next level….? Pair them with a gift card for a family photo session that mom can frame later! (If you don’t know of a photographer to use in your area, this option is a great idea).
5// – For the mom that likes to cook, pick something unexpected to
If you have treasured family recipes or just favorites that mom makes, I am obsessed with this custom family recipe book. Add your favorites recipes and photos, and then add designs and fonts to make everything come to life. You can customize all layouts, embellishments, text and elements or have a designer make it for you. It’s available in 6 different sizes, 4 different covers, and 3 different page types. Whatever options you pick, this will be something that your mom will cherish forever.
If mom is always in the kitchen whipping things up, gift her something to do it in style, like this beautiful apron with a vibrant and graphic print. It’s a classic silhouette that also has a front pocket, contrasting gray stitching, and gray neck and waist straps. If this blue print isn’t her style, I also love these other options that are African-inspired like the rest of the clothing and home decorating items from this brand.
I’m all about gifting experiences and if mom loves to cook, this is a great option that she can do on her own, with friends, or with the kids! These cooking class gift cards can be used for either in-person or online classes. (I’ve done both and they are both great! I really love that the online options are only $29 and you can do it with family and friends in the comfort of your own home!) Class schedules are available online and range from steak nights, to cake classes, to knife skills, and so much more. They also have date nights and kids cooking classes too! (Share these mother’s day gift ideas with her friends so she can make it a girl’s night!)
High quality kitchen ingredients can be a real treat for a home chef and this set includes pantry essentials to complement and round out any kitchen! It includes an extra virgin olive oil duo and fruit-infused vinegar pair. They are bright, bold, herbaceous, and fruit-forward. The batch is made by family farmers and local makers on small family farms in California, with the highest respect for ingredients and quality. There’s a reason that these have been picked as one of Oprah’s favorite things before! (They also make orange blossom and wildflower honey!) A fun and unique gift for mom whether she’s the home chef, a foodie, or just a seasoned entertainer.
6// – For the mom who likes to eat, order something unexpected that she wouldn’t normally order for herself:
I don’t think there’s ever a reason to not have cake (and I couldn’t put together these mother’s day gift ideas without one) so order this special red velvet cheesecake cake right to your door to celebrate the mom in your life. It’s made with layers of double chocolate red velvet cake and frosting, cheesecake filling, and red velvet crumbs. Ummm, yeah…sign me up. If red velvet isn’t her thing, I also love this chocolate classic cake, and this strawberry shortcake cake. If she’s gluten free, they also have this option or this option too!
One way to celebrate mom is to give her a break! And if she’s the one that’s always cooking at home, let her put her feet up and order this awesome meal delivery package for her that comes with 5 days of entrees. Specially made by a highly-rated delicatessen, these made-from-scratch entrées are prepared with local ingredients and includes five of their most popular take-away items. You just have to bake until bubbly for a simple, satisfying meal that is perfect for a mom who is too busy to shop and cook.
Ever heard of the “Pint Club”? This is definitely one club I’d want to join! If you’ve never been to Jeni’s Splendid Ice Creams, you’re missing out. (but you don’t have to!) You can ship mom her very own pints! Every month, she’ll receive a curated selection of four ice cream flavors (often before they’re on sale in stores) delivered directly to her doorstep! The ice creams are made completely from scratch and have a uniquely smooth texture and buttercream body, with bright and fun flavors. I don’t even know if I could pick a favorite, but “Gooey Butter Cake”, “Coffee with Cream and Sugar”, and “Blackout Chocolate Cake” are up there. If you really want to up the ante with these mother’s day gift ideas, pair her subscription with these award winning hot fudge flavors!
7// – If mom likes a little bling, you can’t go wrong with any of these pieces that don’t need an excuse to wear:
These modern hoops are such a fun and different shape, but are also timeless and something mom will be able to pair with anything she’s wearing. They are inspired by angular, modernist architecture and are handcrafted in either 18k gold vermeil or sterling silver. They are durable and designed for everyday wear, so these won’t be collecting dust in her jewelry box.
I love that you can choose to represent mom’s birthday or her babies birthday with this zodiac constellation signet ring. It’s the ultimate cool-girl piece that adds the perfect personalized touch to her ring stack. Made with 14K yellow gold, it’s delicate but still makes a statement!
I adore these bold pearl “huggie” style earrings. And, trust me, these are not your grandmother’s pearls! They have that everyday, effortless style that is both modern and fun and can be worn solo or stacked. They are handcrafted in gold vermeil, a thick layer of 18k gold over sterling silver, and set with freshwater pearls. (Pair them with these mini diamond studs if you want to gift her a stack!)
Josh actually gifted this necklace to me after Parker was born and I haven’t taken it off yet. I wear it everyday and it’s held up so well between showering, skincare, and chasing a toddler around. I love the modern look of the vertical hanging names (you can add up to 4!) and the fact that there are 5 different metal options to choose from (I have the white gold). You can also select the perfect chain length for mom (from 16″-20″) depending on her preferences. If you’re feeling extra generous, you can add diamonds to her necklace too!
I hope these mother’s day gift ideas really helped you figure out the perfect gift for your mom. And there’s no shame in sending some hints to your loved ones if you’re a mom and your family needs a little help either!
If you need a little something to go with your gift, you can add one of these printable mother’s day notecards too!
