This DIY Halloween movie night invitation is a cinch to make and is a great way to get your guests in the spirit (no pun intended!) Check out the easy tutorial!
If you’ve been hanging around here for a little while, you probably already know that I LOVE a good invitation. Especially one that’s fun and unexpected! Invitations set the tone for your event and really get your guests excited about what’s to come. (All the more reason for them to RSVP and attend your event, right?!)
This DIY Halloween movie night invitation checks all of those invitation boxes and is really easy to make too!
I don’t know what it is about an old VHS movie tape, but they seem sooo creepy! Maybe it’s just because the 80’s and 90’s are scary when you look back through old photos, ha, but either way, this DIY Halloween movie night invitation lends the perfect creep factor to these guys. It’s hard to find them in regular stores these days, but I picked a bunch of them up from my local thrift store. You can grab some for less than $1 at your local Salvation Army store or something similar!
Depending on the age of your invited guests, some of them might not even know what these ancient relics are (totally aging myself with this DIY), but that makes these invites all the more fun! 😉
Here’s what you’ll need to make your own:
- Old VHS Tape
- Printable Invitation File
- Double Sided Tape or VHS Label Sheets
- Scissors
- Red Paint (Optional)
- Paintbrush (Optional)
Download and print out the invitation file.
Fill out all of your Halloween movie night details, then cut out each of the labels.
(To make things easier, the free printable file works perfectly with VHS label sheets. All you have to do is insert the labels into your printer and print directly onto the stickers. Once printed, fill them out with your party details, then simply peel them off and stick them onto the VHS tape. This eliminates the next few steps!)
Once you have the labels cut out, using double sided tape, attach the invitation onto the middle of the VHS tape, covering up any existing stickers, if needed.
To add an additional creepy element to the DIY Halloween movie night invitation, you can use red paint to create some blood droplets!
Dip a paintbrush into red paint, and flick the end of the brush, using your fingers, above the finished VHS tape. This will add a gruesome blood splatter look to the invitation and will give your guests an idea about what they’re getting themselves into when they attend your movie night!
