Easy Fruit DanishesEntertaining season is in full swing and prepping meals for a house full of guests can be daunting, especially during the holiday season when all of us have a million things on our minds, and schedules. But today’s recipe will help make breakfast a breeze and will please even the pickiest of eaters. These easy fruit danishes come together in no time, bake up to a perfectly flakey golden brown, and are filled with yummy fruit filling! Plus, there’s no hard work on your end either and you don’t have to be a pastry master to pull them off. With a few grocery items, you’ll have breakfast in the bag!

Easy Fruit DanishesHere’s what you’ll need to make your own:

  • 8 Oz. Cream Cheese, Room Temperature
  • 1/3 Cup Sugar
  • 2 Egg Yolks
  • 2 Tbsp. Ricotta Cheese
  • 1/4 Tsp. Salt
  • 1 Tsp. Vanilla Extract
  • 3 Tbsp. Canned Pie Filling (I used Cherry, Blueberry, and Apple)
  • 2 Sheets (1 Box) Frozen Puff Pastry (Thawed, if Frozen)
  • 1 Egg
  • 1 Tbsp. Water
  • 2 Tbsp. Butter, Melted
  • 4 Tbsp. Powdered Sugar
  • 1 Tbsp. Milk

Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

Add the cream cheese and sugar to a medium mixing bowl. Cream together, using an electric mixer on low speed, until smooth.

Add the egg yolks, ricotta cheese, vanilla and salt and mix until combined. Set aside.

In a small bowl, whisk together the other egg and water. Set aside.

On a lightly floured surface or countertop, roll one of the sheets of puff pastry out so that it measures about 10 x 10 inches. Cut the pastry sheet into equal quarters and place the pastry squares onto the parchment lined baking sheet.

Add a tablespoon of cream cheese mixture into the center of each pastry square, then top it off with a teaspoon of your preferred canned pie filling. Brush the egg and water mixture (egg wash) around the edges of the pastry squares.

Fold the two opposite corners of the pastry together and press them together firmly on top of the cream cheese and pie mixture.

Brush the tops of the danishes with the egg wash.

Repeat the process with the remaining sheet of puff pastry.

Easy Fruit DanishesOnce they are all filled and folded, refrigerate the easy fruit danishes for 15-20 minutes, before baking.

Preheat your oven to 400 degrees.

Bake the danishes for about 18-20 minutes or until flaky and golden brown.

Easy Fruit DanishesWhile the danishes are baking, make the icing!

In a small bowl, whisk together the melted butter and powdered sugar. Add enough milk to make it smooth. Set aside until the danishes come out of the oven.

Allow the danishes to cool slightly before drizzling them with icing.

Easy Fruit DanishesServe them warm for an ooey, gooey, and delicious easy breakfast!

I love these easy fruit danishes because they are great for houseguests of all ages, and make a great dessert for later too….that is, if there are any leftovers! 😉
