Fresh Smelling Laundry for Holiday House GuestsI can’t believe it’s already October. I don’t know where 2018 has gone, but regardless, the holiday season is right around the corner. The other day, I heard on the radio that there are only something like 90 days left of the year. Crazy, right?! So, despite what you think, it’s not too early to start prepping for out of towners!

Fresh Smelling Laundry for Holiday House GuestsWhen preparing for holiday guests, a lot of time, the linens are an afterthought. But having fresh smelling laundry for holiday house guests are important for a comfortable stay and today I’m sharing some tips with you to make sure your linens are holiday house guest ready!

I try to stay on top of my house guest to-do list in advance, but in order to keep my linens smelling fresh, I’ve noticed that washing them too far in advance tends to work against me. I try to wash all of my spare bedroom linens, guest bathroom towels, and cozy blankets only a few days in advance of someone’s visit.

One of my very favorite products to use is Gain. They have released new Gain flings!™ laundry pods and Gain fireworks!™ in-wash scent booster in the Fresh Water Sparkle™ scent that I love.

Fresh Smelling Laundry for Holiday House GuestsThey are exclusive to Dollar General stores and can be found in the laundry aisle. Plus, you can click here, or below, to save on the exact same products I use for my fresh smelling laundry for holiday house guests!

I like to pair my laundry products together, using the same scent, to really ensure I’ll be giving my guests the best fresh smelling linens when they arrive.

Fresh Smelling Laundry for Holiday House GuestsMy go-to products are the Gain flings!™ laundry pods, the Gain fireworks!™ in-wash scent booster, and the Gain Dryer Sheets. I also like to add the Gain Liquid Fabric Enhancer/Softener to my laundry loads for an added boost too.

Fresh Smelling Laundry for Holiday House GuestsFirst, I add all of my dirty linens to my washing machine.

When washing towels, keep them in a separate load from the rest of your laundry. Towels are thick and abrasive and will rub against your other items, which can cause pilling!

When washing, use hot water for white loads, warm water for the average load, and cold water for bright colors.

(Tip: Before washing a large comforter, pop it in the dryer first to see if it will fit once it’s dry!)

Fresh Smelling Laundry for Holiday House GuestsNext, I drop in one of the Gain flings!™ laundry pods. I love how easy and messy free they are to use! They are packed with 50% more scent than Gain liquid laundry detergent and you can use they with any laundry set-up, because Gain flings! pacs dissolve in both hot and cold water and are HE compatible. (For larger loads, use more than one pac).

If you’re not a laundry pods fan, the Gain Liquid Laundry Detergent in the Fresh Water Sparkle™ is also fantastic! It’s regular washer and HE compatible, and also the freshness of 1 cap of Gain liquid laundry detergent = 1 bottle of the leading baking soda detergent. (*In-wear freshness of 1 large dose of Gain vs. 50 oz. bottle of leading baking soda detergent/scent).

Fresh Smelling Laundry for Holiday House GuestsFresh Smelling Laundry for Holiday House GuestsNext, I use the Gain fireworks!™ in-wash scent booster. This little baby is a game changer and so easy to use! They are scented beads that give your clothes and linens an extra boost of scent. The more scent beads you add, the more amazing your laundry smells. Just fill up the cap with as much or as little as you like and shake the scent beads directly into the drum of your washer.

Fresh Smelling Laundry for Holiday House GuestsBefore drying, if washing larger items like a comforter, pillows, or large sheets, use the washer’s spin cycle to remove excess water, or you can press out the water by hand.

Once your load has finished washing, add your clothes to your dryer and pop in one of the Gain Dryer Sheets. They are an easy way to fight static in the dryer, while adding more of that amazing Gain scent. Fewer wrinkles, more softness and less static cling. Sign me up!

If you are drying down-filled items, use the tumble-dry low setting. When drying down pillows or large comforters, add one or two tennis balls to the dryer to prevent matting and bunching. You can also add a dry hand towel to your wet dryer load to absorb excess moisture.

I also love adding these dryer sheets to drawers, in my car, and in any areas where my dog likes to hang out, to keep stinky and stale scents at bay. Because no one wants their house guests smelling your dog, right?

Fresh Smelling Laundry for Holiday House GuestsAs soon as my dryer load has stopped, I try to get the linens folded asap. This also helps to prevent wrinkles and helps me to remember they are in there! I’ve been guilty of forgetting to folds clothes more than a few times 😉

With a few simple steps, and Gain Fresh Water Sparkle™ you can be prepared with fresh smelling laundry for holiday house guests too!
