Life’s been a little crazy lately, as per usual, and I feel like I’m playing catch up around here, but there’s been SO much going on in our little rental house. Josh left for Florida to head back to work for the upcoming baseball season, I started a new job here in Charlotte, which I’m still getting used to after taking the last four months off, and we’ve been knee deep in alllll the house plans, which I’ll be sharing more about soon. But despite how chaotic things have gotten, I wasn’t about to miss out on posting the recipe for this Valentine’s day passion cocktail, which also happens to be the February cocktail of the month! It’s easy to make and makes enough for two! Which means you can share it with someone special, your bestie, or just refill your own glass when it’s getting a little low.

After getting married last year, I became a stepmom, which added a whole new element to dinnertime at our house. I hadn’t prepared many dinners for kids before and now trying to find something that my stepson will actually eat is a challenge (he’d eat chicken fingers for every meal if he could). This easy cheeseburger pasta recipe is simple to make, delicious, and it comes together in no time. And with the name “cheeseburger” in the title, it’s easy to get the kids on board too! It definitely reminds me of a boxed version my mom used to make when I was little, but it’s SO much better and just as easy!
Due to the lovely rainy weather in Charlotte lately, there was a slight delay in getting this month’s calendar cocktail shot and posted on the blog, but it’s finally here! (And I even shot a video too! Find it below.) These grapefruit rosemary mules are crisp, refreshing, and I love the citrus kick from the fresh grapefruit. The cocktail recipe is an easy one and I’m sharing the easy way to make your own rosemary flavored simple syrup too!
I tend to entertain a lot during the fall and winter months. Between October and February tons of holidays and events can creep up and can become a little overwhelming when you’re responsible for feeding a crowd. Today, I’m sharing how to set up a DIY chili bar, which is one of my favorite easy entertaining ideas to use all season long. (Super Bowl anyone?!) They don’t require a lot of effort on your part and can be made to appeal to a variety of diets and tastes. I’m also sharing a delicious recipe for my favorite turkey chili too!
The title of this post should probably be, “The books I read (and all the ones I never got around to reading) in 2019.” I had lofty reading goals for the past year and usually do when each new year hits. It wasn’t exactly a stellar reading year (which you’ll soon see), but I’m still going to celebrate the books I read in 2019 in between all of my crazy life changes that happened over the last 12 months. Even though I didn’t get around to reading everything on my list, at least I was reading something! I plan to share my reads with you guys each year moving forward, so although I didn’t read a million books this year, it still seems like a good place to start and will helpfully hold me more accountable moving forward! To say that I’m obsessed with this year’s printable calendar is an understatement. Don’t get me wrong, I’ve loved each any every year from the past (hello snack calendar!), but this idea behind this printable 2020 cocktail calendar is so fun and the hand drawn cocktail images are a fave of mine. I hope you guys are ready to learn how to make a year’s worth of delicious cocktails!
I couldn’t help but squeeze one last blog post into 2019, because this one is so simple and is a perfect appetizer to make to ring in the new year! My family has an on-going new year’s eve dinner tradition that I love. We always get together as a family to game plan our appetizer line up, then my mom gathers all the ingredients and makes all the yummy treats. (Don’t worry…we help too). For “dinner” we just fill up our plates with snacks. What’s better than that?! You get a little taste of everything and can keep going back for more until you’re stuffed! It’s the perfect way to indulge one last time before the holiday season is over. Whether you’re braving the crowd to celebrate with friends or staying in and celebrating in pj’s and eating appetizers like me, this easy apple and brie appetizer takes no time to throw together so you can enjoy them before heading out, bring them with you to a party, or snack on them while hanging on the couch.
Can’t believe I’m about to type this, but another year has came and went. It’s been a very busy year for me, but mostly full of all good things. Hopefully your year has been full of good things too, and if not, it’s time to leave the old one in the past and welcome in a new one! If you’re planning to usher in the new year with family and friends, make sure to download this printable New Years Eve party banner for some easy party decor!
