Peanut Butter Rainbow Easter Eggs

Peanut Butter Rainbow Easter EggsPeanut Butter Rainbow Easter EggsIf you’re not interested in boiling eggs and worrying about dye staining your counters, this fun and easy “egg” decorating tutorial might be the perfect Easter project to try this year! I’m not sure about you guys, but REESE’S Eggs are a hot commodity at my house during the holiday, so I thought it would be fun to switch things up a little bit and decorate some peanut butter rainbow Easter eggs this year! They’re such a fun canvas to get creative with and let your families’ imaginations run wild!

Rainbows remind me of Spring, so I felt like these little guys were the perfect treat to welcome in a new season.

I picked up everything I needed from my local Walmart store. I love that I can make one trip and grab everything on my list for Easter! And if you don’t feel like making the trip, you can order all of the items on walmart.com or schedule Walmart grocery pick-up too! They also carry all of my REESE’S Eggs and Cadbury Egg favorites. (Anyone else stock up on Cadbury Eggs and hide them from everyone else in your house?)

I used icing for these REESE’S Eggs but you can use sprinkles, nuts, or anything else you love to decorate yours!

Peanut Butter Rainbow Easter EggsHere’s what you’ll need to make your own:

  • REESE’S Eggs
  • Icing (Rainbow Colors)
  • Piping Bag
  • Piping Coupler
  • Round Piping Tip (I used a 1 and a 2 size)

Peanut Butter Rainbow Easter EggsTo make the process easier, I used a piping bag, coupler, and a round piping tip. For the rainbow lines I used a piping tip in size 2, and for the clouds I used size 1.

First, fit your tip and coupler base into the piping bag and secure with the coupler thread.

Fill the bag with a little bit of decorating icing. You don’t need a lot of icing for this project since the lines are small, so start with a little bit and add more as needed.

Unwrap all of your REESE’S Eggs and place them sideways on a parchment or paper towel lined baking sheet.

Peanut Butter Rainbow Easter EggsBegin piping your first rainbow color onto the top edge of the egg. Leave a little bit of room at the bottom so that you’ll have space to add some clouds later. The lines don’t have to be perfect. Just have fun!

Repeat the same color onto all of the eggs.

Peanut Butter Rainbow Easter EggsSwitch your piping bag out to the next color of icing and repeat the same process, adding another rainbow line underneath the first one. Repeat on all of the REESE’S Eggs.

Peanut Butter Rainbow Easter EggsPeanut Butter Rainbow Easter EggsContinue the same process with the remaining colors until you have completed little rainbows on all of your eggs.

Peanut Butter Rainbow Easter EggsYou can choose to stick to the same round piping tip to make the clouds, but I used a smaller one for a little more control.

Add three little white circles under each rainbow section, clustering them together to form a “cloud” base.

Repeat with all of the REESE’S Eggs.

Peanut Butter Rainbow Easter EggsPeanut Butter Rainbow Easter EggsAfter making these peanut butter rainbow Easter eggs, I have a feeling that decorating REESE’S Eggs is going to become a new tradition at our house. I can’t wait to see what other fun decorating ideas you guys come up with!
