I’m one of those people that lives for a holiday (you either love us or hate us). I’m the friend who’s always planning new activities, looking up fun events, or planning a new adventure, all while simultaneously trying to get everyone else to go and do them with me. I try to squeeze in as many things as I can to really make myself feel like I’m getting the most out of the season. To be honest, I think it’s me trying to recreate the holiday magic that I always felt as a kid. Once you turn into an adult, the magic just isn’t the same. So instead of just going through the motions, I really try to stop and take in as much of a holiday or season as I can. One way I like to do that is to create a checklist! I make a list of all the things I want to do that make me feel the “magic” again. The items change based on the holiday, or the season, and can be new things I’ve never done before, or classic go-to traditions that I make sure to accomplish each year. Today, I’m sharing my printable winter activity checklist with you guys!
Candy Corn Halloween Cocktails
I feel like you’re either team candy corn or not. There’s no in between. It’s strange, because I never loved candy corn as a kid. I always thought it was waxy and flavorless, but as I’ve gotten older I’ve started liking it more and more. (What does that say about my tastebuds?) If you’re on the pro-candy corn train, these candy corn Halloween cocktails are right up your alley, and if not, vodka is involved so what’s not to like? ๐ [Read more…]

Gingerbread Bundt Cake Recipe
This week I’ve been wrapping and shipping out Christmas gifts like a mad women and have been trying to plan out the last details for our Elf on the Shelf. My stepson also notified me that chocolate chip cookies are the ONLY acceptable option to bake for Santa Claus (since they’re his favorite), so I’m on the hunt for the perfect recipe. If you’re still in the mood for some holiday baking, this gingerbread bundt cake recipe should definitely be added to your list. It tastes like how I imagine the holiday season would, if the holiday season had a taste. It’s got all of those warm and spicy notes and the glaze is sooooo good too.
Cinnamon Roasted Almonds
There’s just something so magical about the scents that bring back so many memories during the holiday season. One of those scents for me is cinnamon roasted almonds being made at the local mall. Granted, I probably loved being at the mall and shopping just as much, but we’d always buy a little paper cone filled with these amazing cinnamon and sugar coated nuts every year, and it’s one of those traditions that I grew up loving and associated with the holidays.
Now that I’m older, I try to avoid the mall crowds as much as possible, ha, but I still LIVE for this sweet treat, so I found a way to make my own cinnamon roasted almonds at home, which I can make in my pj’s without even having to leave the house. The recipe is so easy to make and your house will smell amazing while they bake too!ย [Read more…]
Stocking Stuffer Ideas for Kids
Now that we’ve covered the girls and the guys, it’s time to talk about some stocking stuffer ideas for kids! I wanted to put together some items that aren’t sweets and are things that kids will actually use. Some of them will even help your lives go a little easier too ๐ Getting them out from in front of a screen and doing something different was also up there on the top of my list, so a lot of these items are great for families, letting them get creative, or learning a few things too.
