This post has been a LONG time coming and, true to form, I waited until the very last minute to share it with you guys. Buuuuut, at least it’s getting done, right? I had this house built back in 2004 and it’s been home ever since. I’ve been adding finishing touches here and there, ever since I renovated it in 2016 (see the kitchen before photo below…yikes), but I never really felt like it was ever quite done, and honestly, I don’t know if you ever actually reach that point in a house. It seems like something is always a work in progress or I’m constantly searching for “the perfect” item to display on a shelf or hang on a wall. But, regardless, finishing the house was part of my 2019 goal list and I was determined to get it done! Annnnnnd then life had some unexpected surprises in store for me, like moving to North Carolina! So in a few weeks, I’ll be packing everything up and starting over across the country, but I still wanted to share my Utah house tour with you guys before I go! Also, fair warning…this is a loooooong post!
Best Donuts in Utah (+ a printable map!)
I take my donuts very seriously. Some might consider me a donut connoisseur, but I just consider myself a huge fan. Glazed, sprinkled, filled, or plain, I love them all and don’t discriminate. So it was only a matter of time before I tried to tackle a project that’s been on my radar for awhile…finding all of the best donuts in Utah! If you’re a donut fan and a Utah local, or just passing through, I’ve done all of the hard (and delicious) work for you. I traveled around and tried out all of the best spots to get donuts in Utah and picked my faves. Plus, I’m even sharing a printable map with you guys so that you can travel around the state of Utah and eat donuts too!
Life Update: I’m Moving! (Across the country!)
This post (and the news) have been in the works for a little bit now. I wanted to wait until things were officially official before sharing all of the details, but, it’s definitely time to let the cat out of the bag….I’m moving! ACROSS THE COUNTRY!!! (It feels soooo good to finally say that after holding in my little secret for so long!) After 24 years in Salt Lake City, Utah, I’m packing up everything and making the 2,031 mile drive to plant some new roots in Charlotte, North Carolina at the beginning of October.
Sweet Stop: Bruges Waffles and Frites
Frites: a Belgium take on the classic “french fry”, and a delicious one at that.
My next sweet stop took me on a yummy Belgium adventure right here in good old Salt Lake City, which included frites! And you might be wondering why I mentioned french fries for a sweet stop…but I have another word to throw into the mix…waffles!
I’m sharing a fun little spot called Bruges Waffles and Frites, that’s a must try if you happen to live in or stop into SLC!
Sweet Stop: Beyond Glaze
I’ve never met a donut I didn’t like. Ok, maaaybe there might have been one in all of the years of my donut consumption, but my track record is pretty good.
And you know your donut obsession is bad when your friends send you text messages of new donut themed items they find while shopping so that you don’t miss out.
Either way, I knew that for this month’s sweet stop, a donut was in order. It’s been long enough for other sweets to take the spotlight, but I’m bringing the donut back today.
If you’re familiar with donuts in Utah, we definitely have some stand out winners. And Beyond Glaze is definitely one of them!
Sweet Stops: Gourmandise
Cakes, cookies, and pastries – oh, my! It must be time for another sweet stop around here! (Or really just another day, since sweets = life).
IF you haven’t been following along, I like to share a local Salt Lake City sugary must try location for locals or travelers alike. Because who doesn’t need want a little more sugar in their life…?
To find out where I’ve been before, just search “sweet stops” on the side bar to see my previous reccomendations! They are always delicious and always sugar filled.
This month, I stopped by a local hot spot called Gourmandise. They are a fun little bakery that is open early and closes late, serving up some of the best pastries around.
Sweet Stops: La Bonne Vie
If you’ve ever been to downtown Salt Lake City, you may have seen the gorgeous and large structure that happens to be the Grand America Hotel.
The ornate building is filled to the brim with gold details, marble accents, amazing chandeliers, and stunning outdoor grounds.
I’ve been lucky enough to throw and attend a few events there, and each time I discover new details, shops, or amenities that I didn’t notice before.
And one of those little discoveries happens to be this month’s sweet stop!
I’m making a trip to La Bonne Vie, which means “the good life”, a darling little french bakery nestled inside the Grand America hotel.
Sweet Stops: Ruby Snap
These posts may become one of my very favorites here on the blog. An excuse to travel around the city and eat my favorite sweets and desserts…? What’s not to love about that?!
If you’ve been following along for a bit, you’ll know that I’ve started a new series on the blog titled “Sweet Stops”, a monthly trip to a local sweets/treats/heavenly place here in Utah, where I share my favorites with you guys.
Today marks stop number 2! (Catch my first trip here).
If you’ve been to Salt Lake City before, you may have heard rummblings of a local cookie joint that’s too good to pass up. A retro throwback to pin-up’s of the past (and a sassy one at that!) Ruby Snap packs the flavor, charm, and spunk of those gals you admire from across the room and secretly wish they were your new best friend, but in cookie form, of course.
